OK, it's been a while since I've been here, but I recently switched from SuSE to Fedora Core 2, and since I was too lazy to recompile MP3 support into XMMS
(It's disabled by default in FC2), I decided to see if I could get XMMS-Infopipe to work with BeepMP. Since BeepMP is just a GTK2 fork of the original XMMS source, it worked pretty well. All I had to do was apply a patch to the infopipe source code and recompile. The patch can be found here:

Just patch it, follow the instructions, and you'll have your SigX reporting from BeepMP instead of XMMS. You don't even need to modify your Perl script!
