maybe in the future someone with ASP skills can code this in ASP or ASP.NET.

Coding it in pure ASP would be pointless as the actual image generation would still require an external component - either an ASP.NET page or a custom .DLL

Anyway, I wrote up a basic script to generate the SigX image in ASP.NET. You can see it in action here:
http://www.havocaos.com/sigx/sigx.aspx?username=karmic
Replace karmic with your own username.

Current version of the code can be downloaded at:
http://www.havocaos.com/sigx/sigx.zip
The script in the archive differs from the above version only in that the username is hard-coded instead of being read from the querystring.

Cheers

The above version is a "lite" one, meant to run off of your own server. It doesn't resize the image so you'll need to have one with the right proportions in the first place. Also much of the configurable stuff (font size/colour, text offset, background etc) has to be changed inside the script.

I'll begin work on a full version, that I could also host on my site to decrease the load this server is getting.
Time for university now, I'll be back later with some questions for Yuriy ;)

Cheers

I don't have AIM, I use MSN and ICQ.

The "Pro" version that can load templates and resize them properly is working, demo in my sig. I'll need to do some more testing to the actual image creation before moving on to user customisation. I'll be having questions then, will email them to you :)
